Title:
PRODUCTION OF METAL-CERAMICS COMPOSITE MATERIAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH10195558
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To solve the problem that working a metal-ceramic composite material is poor in workability and expensive, since ceramics is compounded.

This metal-ceramics composite material is produced by using ceramics fibers or particles as a reinforcing material and infiltrating the metal being a base material into the preform. In this case, the preform is composed of ceramics powder of SiC, Al2O3 or the like having 1.0 to 100μm average particle size, the ceramics powder is added with a colloidal silica soln. or/and a colloidal soln. of alumina hydrate, is furthermore added with a PVA series or acrylic organic binder and is compacted, and this compacted body is worked and is thereafter sintered. Into this worked preform, an alloy essentially consisting of aluminum is infiltrated at 700 to 1000°C.
