Title:
PRODUCTION OF METAL MATRIX COMPOSITE BLENDED WITH REINFORCING MATERIAL BY FORCED VENTILATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2659341
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To simply and easily manufacture a homogenous metal matrix composite and to greatly reduce the use amount of an inert gas.
CONSTITUTION: In an electric furnace 1, a purifying chamber 11 in which a molten metal matrix 2 is charged is purged with an inert gas such as nitrogen, a reinforcing material 5, preferably particulate thereof, is charged in a bucket 31 hung down above the molten metal matrix charged into the electric furnace, forced ventilation is applied to the reinforcing material in the bucket in order to pull up the reinforcing material upward from the bucket thereafter; further a reinforcing agent is forced to be pushed down in order to homogeneously disperse the reinforcing material thereabove in the molten metal matrix while being homogeneously stirred to manufacture a metal-matrix composite reinforced with the reinforcing material in a closed system.
