Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve coercive force by film forming a CoCrTa alloy magnetic layer on a CrSi alloy base layer.

CONSTITUTION: The base layer 2 made from the CrSi alloy is film formed by sputtering method on the non-magnetic substrate 1 and the magnetic recording layer 3 having an alloy magnetic layer made from a CoCrTa alloy having uniaxial crystal magnetic anisotropy is laminated and film formed on the base layer 2. In the metallic thin film type magnetic recording medium, concentration of Si in the CrSi alloy is 0.5-1.5at% and when the base layer 2 and the CoCrTa alloy magnetic layer are film formed, negative bias voltage is impressed on the substrate 1.
