To provide a production method of toner, by which a powdery colorant can be easily and favorably fixed to surfaces of resin particles in a short time and the favorable fixed state of the colorant can be maintained with time even in continuous printing on a great number of sheets.
The production method of toner is carried out in a rotary blade type agitation device including an agitation tank, a rotation drive shaft and an agitation blade and having such a structure that the agitation blade fixed to the rotation drive shaft penetrating a bottom wall of the agitation tank is disposed on the bottom of the agitation tank, a metal ring with a plurality of deflectors fixed thereto is disposed inside the agitation tank by suspending the ring from an upper part of the agitation tank, and at least each one of gas inlet and gas outlet is disposed in the agitation tank. The production method comprises: supplying resin particles and a powdery colorant to the above rotary blade type agitation device; and agitating and mixing the resin particles and the powdery colorant in the agitation tank by use of the agitation blade so as to fix the powdery colorant to the resin particles, thereby obtaining colored resin particles.
