Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a zinc- or zinc oxide-carrying inorganic powder which can be effectively utilized, e.g. as an environmental catalyst for decomposing harmful organic substances, as cosmetics utilizing ultraviolet-shielding effects, and as an antibacterial filler utilizing antibacterial effects for resins, coating materials, or ceramics.
After the surface of an inorganic powder, e.g. a calcium carbonate powder, is treated with a zinc salt of a lower fatty acid or of a mineral acid, the zinc-containing salt covering the surface is thermally baked; thus, zinc or zinc oxide is carried by the surface of the powder.
