Title:
PRODUCTION OF MICROFIBRILLATED CELLULOSE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3478083
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a method for producing a microfibrillated cellulose (MFC)- dispersed liquid suitably usable for manufacturing a sheet-shaped resin high in water-absorbing property (SAP) without using any thickening process and capable of stably keeping the dispersed cellulose in the solvent for a long term without causing any agglomeration therein.
SOLUTION: This method is carried out by dispersing a fibrous or particulate cellulose in a dispersion medium comprising mixture solvent of a water- compatible organic solvent and water, followed by microfibrillating it by using a grain plate lapping machine comprising a plurality of grain plates 1 and 2 allowed to slide in contact with each other and made of grains having a granularity of 16 to 120 size (JIS R 6001). Preferably, the weight ratio of the organic solvent to water in the mixed solvent falls into the range of (50:50) to (10:90). An MFC-dispersed mixed solvent liquid apart from rot can be obtained by using a microbicidal organic solvent. When the microfibrillation treatment is conducted under a cooling condition, it prevents a selective volatilization of the organic solvent in the mixed solvent.
