PURPOSE: To produce an N-vinylcarbamic acid ester derivative of high purity, useful as an intermediate for synthesis of medicines through a one-stage reaction in a high yield by reacting an imine derivative with a chloroformic acid ester in the presence of a basic organic compound.
CONSTITUTION: This method for production of an N-vinylcarbamic acid ester derivative of the formula III is carried out by reacting (B) an imine derivative of the formula I (R1 is a 1-arylalkyl; R2 to R4 are independently H, a 1 to 4C alkyl, an aryl, or a 1 to 4C alkylene chain may be formed between R2 and R3 whereas R4 is H or a 1 to 4C alkyl) with (C) a chloroformic acid ester of formula II [R5 is a (substituted) 1 to 6C alkyl, allyl, an aryl, menthyl] in the presence of (A) a basic organic compound (e.g. triethylamine, N,N-diethylanilne, pyridine, etc., preferably pyridine, especially preferably triethylamine). In addition, this reaction is condupted preferably while adding dropwise the component (C) to a mixture of the components (A) and (B).
