This olefinic polymer is obtained by polymerizing a cyclic olefin of formula II (R7-R8 are each H, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon; (m)≥0) and/or an alkenyl aromatic hydrocarbon of formula III (R19 is H or a 1-20C alkyl; Ar is a 6-25C aromatic hydrocarbon), and preferably further with ethylene and/or an α-olefin in the presence of a catalyst using a transition metal complex of formula I (M is a transition metal element of the 4th group in the periodic table; Cp is a group having cyclopentadienyl skeleton; A is the 16th group atom; B is the 14th group atom; X1 and X2 are each H, a halogen or a 1-20C hydrocarbon, etc.; R1-R6 are each H, a halogen or a 1-20C silyl, etc.) as a component [e.g. isopropylidene (cyclopentadienyl) or (3-tertiary butyl-5- methyl-2-phenoxy)titanium chloride].
