Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new optically active 6-(4-substituted inden-1-yl)-2-methyl-4- hepten-3-ols useful as an intermediate for medicines.
CONSTITUTION: This optically active 6-(4-substituted inden-1-yl)-2-methyl-4- hepten-3-ols are expressed by formula l {X denotes O,' (E)-bromomethylene or a case in which the α-position is substituted with H and the β-position is substituted with OR [with the proviso that R is 2-8C acyl, tria(1-6C hydrocarbon) substituted silyl or 1-(1-4C alkoxy)substituted 1-6C alkyl]; the wavy line denotes either of the E and Z isomers of double bond or a mixture thereof}, e.g. (6 R)-6-[(4S,7aS)-4-benzoyloxy-7a-methyliden-1-yl]-2-methyl-4-hepten-3-ol. The compounds expressed by formula I are obtained by reacting 4-(4-substituted inden-1-yl)-2-pentenals expressed by formula II with diisopropylzinc expressed by formula III in the presence of optically active N,N-dialkylamino-alcohols.
