Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICALLY ACTIVE HALOHYDRIN DERIVATIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3122767
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an optically active halohydrin derivative useful as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, agrichemicals, liquid crystal materials, etc., in high efficiency by reacting a halohydrin with a carboxylic acid ester in the presence of a stereo-selective transesterification enzyme and resolving the antipode of the obtained optically active haloester.
CONSTITUTION: The objective optically active halohydrin derivative useful as a starting substance or an intermediate for pharmaceuticals, agrichemicals, insect pheromones, liquid crystal materials, etc., is produced by reacting a halohydrin of formula I (R1 and R2 are 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; R3 is H, 1-20C alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; X is halogen) with a carboxylic acid ester of the formula R4CO2R5 (R4 is same as R1; R5 is 1-3C alkyl, alkenyl, etc.) in the presence of an enzyme having stereo-selective transesterification capability to convert either one of the racemic components into an optically active haloester of formula II (* represents asymmetric carbon atom) while leaving the other component in the form of the optically active halohydrin antipode expressed by formula III and separately collecting both optically active compounds.
