PURPOSE: To reshape cooked rice into the form of pieces of sushi and package the resultant pieces of sushi (vinegared rice with ingredients), one by one in a sheet.

CONSTITUTION: A piece of cooked rice 9 for sushi, fitted in each mold cavity 21 o a turntable 2 and conveyed is thrusted down with a packaging sheet 92 waiting for under the turntable 2 and all into each outer peripheral notch 73 of a rotating receiving plate 7 standing by under the turntable 2 so as to enable the rotation in a vertical plane and three faces along the base, the front face in the rotative direction and the rear face opposite to the front face of the notch 73 are wrapped with the sheet. A rotating receiving plate 7 is then rotated to apply the packaging sheet 92 protruding from the notch 32 to the outside of the peripheral surface of the receiving plate 7 to a guide plate 74 arranged along the peripheral surface of the receiving plate and tucked in so as to cover the outer peripheral surface of the piece of the cooked rice 9. The ends of the sheet protruding to both the lateral sides of the notch 73 of the rotating receiving plate 7 are gripped with respective plural gripping pawls 52 and 53 of a pair of heat fusion devices 5 and 5 installed on both sides of the rotating receiving plate 7 in a stopped state thereof. The sheet is simultaneously thermally fused and sealed with heated block pieces 57 at the tips of the gripping pawls 52 and 53 to package the piece of sushi.
