To provide a paper machine and a paperboard machine having a shorter structure than that of a known structure for producing a paper and a paperboard of a grade thereof conventionally requiring the undercoating.
A stock is fed from a headbox 100 to a wire part 200 to remove water from a web W in the wire part 200. The web W is then fed from the wire part 200 to a press part 300 and water is squeezed out of the web W in the press part 300. The web W is subsequently dried in a dry part 400 and wound with a reel winding apparatus 800 in a method for producing a paper web or a paperboard web. An additive, a filler and/or microfibers are fed to the stock on each surface layer of the web W to reduce the size distribution of pores in the web W in the surface layer thereof and make the size distribution substantially the same as that of the undercoated web W. Furthermore, the paper machine or paperboard machine has a means for feeding the additive, filler and/or microfibers to a fibrous stock and is capable of making characteristics of the uncoated web W substantially coincident with those of the undercoated web W.
