Abstract:
PURPOSE:To provide the process for production of the polarized light separating prism of a low cost which is good in yield, and is simple in a setting operation at the time of forming a polarized light separating film. CONSTITUTION:After the polarized light separating film 5 is formed on the surface of one flat sheet glass 10, another flat sheet glass 20 is tightly adhered thereto via an adhesive layer 61 of a desired refractive index formed on the surface of the polarized light separating film 5 to provide a sandwich glass plate 22 with the separating film. This sandwich glass plate 22 with the separating film is cut along cutting lines L-1 parallel with the flank thereof and is divided to plural square columns 23 with the separating films having a square section. The respective angles are cut off to form a prism column of the square section having the polarized light separating film 5 between the opposite slopes of a pair of the columnar rectangular prisms. Further, the respective prism columns are sliced as desired and are thereby divided to the plural polarized light separating prisms each having the polarized light separating film 5 between the opposite slopes of a pair of the rectangular prisms.
