To provide a method for producing prepreg and laminate, capable of obtaining prepreg having good curing property and impregnating property without using any solvent and obtaining good laminates which is stable in quality at a low cost, free from atmospheric pollution and capable of saving resource.
This method for producing prepreg comprises adding a powdery thermosetting resin composition consisting essentially of an epoxy resin, a novolak resin curing agent, a curing agent and/or a curing accelerator to at least one face of a sheet-like fiber substrate and heat-melting the resin composition and impregnating the resin composition into a sheet-like fiber substrate. The powdery thermosetting resin composition is preferably obtained by applying mechanical energy to a mixture of each component to subject the each component to mechano-chemical reaction or heat-kneading or melt-mixing a mixture of each component and finely pulverizing each component.
