PURPOSE: To produce an inodorous prepreg useful in the production of a clean high-performance composite material while making it possible to solve problems in the conventional FRP production process such as a malodor of styrene or the like and dusting of glass fibers, to improve the performance of an FRP such as specific strength and specific modulus and to realize the reduction of cost and the shortening of processing time.
CONSTITUTION: This production process is for producing an inodorous prepreg for FRPs comprising using an inodorous resin as the matrix resin, that is, using a matrix resin comprising an unsaturated thermosetting oligomer and an inodorous vinyl compound. The inodorous vinyl compound used may be a liquid one having at least one vinyl group in the molecule, serving as a solvent for the unsaturated thermosetting oligomer at ordinary temperature and atmospheric pressure, having a low vapor pressure (that is, high-boiling), and being substantially organoleptically inodorous. An example is a mono functional epoxy (meth) acrylate.
