PURPOSE: To easily produce a simple printing plate having an open cell and enhance precision of an image by rotating a drum to be embossed in synchronization with an embossing drum and pressing both an embossing member for forming and a member to be embossed at direct pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A relief having a desired pattern is formed on an embossing member T for forming. The embossing member T for forming is fitted to an embossing drum 3. A member W to be embossed which consists of a sheet having an open cell is fitted to a drum 2 to be embossed. The drum 2 to be embossed is rotated in synchronization with the embossing drum 3 in a state for heating the embossing member T for forming. Thereby both the embossing member T for forming and the member W to be embossed are pressed at direct pressure. The pattern of the embossing member T for forming is transferred on the member W to be embossed. Then the part of the member W to be embossed which has been brought into contact with the projected part of the embossing member T is melted by heat and the open cell is destroyed and ink is not permeated. On one side, since the member W to be embossed is not brought into contact with the embossing member T in the recessed part thereof, it is not melted. The member W to be embossed holds such property that ink is permeated through the open cell.
