Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a high-toughness high-tensile thick steel plate having the material uniformity in the thickness direction by subjecting the thick steel plate to accelerated cooling under such water spraying conditions under which the water flow rate is gradually increased in density.

CONSTITUTION: The accelerated cooling of the thick steel plate after hot rolling is executed by starting the cooling at 0.05W0.5m3/min.m2 water flow rate density, then increasing the water spraying rate gradually until the water flow rate density attains 0.3W1.5m3/min.m2 to decrease the difference in the cooling rate at the time of passing the Ar3 transformation point on the surface and in the inside of the thick steel plate, by which the quality difference in the thickness direction is decreased.
