To suppress variance in hue of a liquid crystal projector with no deterioration of contrast nor black floating phenomena by providing a picture quality improvement means, etc., to correct the color tone of a projected image by means of a hue control means which individually corrects the levels excluding the specific value of the signals which are inputted to plural liquid crystal light bulb means in a prescribed characteristic curve.

At a digital signal processing part 5, the color signals which are converted into the digital signals by the A/D converters 2-4 undergo various types of digital signal processing including the conversion of pixels into those of a liquid crystal panel in the number of pixels, the display of menus, the enlargement/reduction, etc., and the processed digital signals R s4, G s5 and B s6 are outputted to a picture quality improvement processing part 6 via the selectors 26-28. The part 6 corrects the color tone of a projected image by means of a hue control means that corrects the levels excluding 0% and 100% of the signals which are inputted to plural liquid crystal light bulb means in a prescribed characteristic curve.
