Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for enhancing the production of a fermentable β-lactam antibiotic and to obtain a composition therefor.
CONSTITUTION: This DNA sequence contains a reading frame encoding δ-(L-α- aminoadipyl)-cysteinyl-D-valine synthetase(ACVS) or its enzymatically active fragment or contains a reading frame encoding a biologically active mutant of the synthetase or its enzymatically active fragment. The expression cassette comprises a promoter functional in a host cell, the reading frame and a terminator functional in the host cell in the transcription direction and the expression of the synthetase is under regulatory control of the promoter and the terminator. The components are in vitro functionably joined.
