Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58141368
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a propeller for a ship made of martensitic stainless cast steel consisting of prescribed percentages of C, Si, Mn, Ni and Cr and the balance Fe or further contg. Mo and having high mechanical strength, high toughness and especially superior cavitation erosion resistance.

CONSTITUTION: This propeller for a ship is made of stainless cast steel consisting of, by weight, ≤0.1% C, ≤1.0% Si, 2.0W9.0% Mn, 0.5W8.0% Ni, 11.0W 14.0% Cr and the balance essentially Fe or further contg. ≤2.0% Mo. The material having said composition is melted by a high frequency melting method and cast by a conventional casting method such as sand casting or casting in a metallic mold to manufacture the propeller.
