Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a propolis extract exhibiting hypotensive actions on hypertension based on inhibitory actions on angiotensin converting enzymes (ACE) and inhibitory actions on phosphodiesterases (PDE) and to provide a method for producing the same and the hypotensive agent comprising the same.
SOLUTION: The propolis extract comprises at least one kind selected from phenolic organic acids and caffeoylquinic acids. The content of the phenolic organic acids is ≥3 wt.% and the content of the caffeoylquinic acids is ≥5 wt.%. The method for producing the propolis extract comprises mixing a propolis raw material with a hydrous alcohol containing 10-40 vol.% of an alcohol based on water and extracting at least one kind selected from the phenolic organic acids and caffeoylquinic acids. Furthermore, the hypotensive agent comprises the propolis extract as an active ingredient.
