To prevent trouble with overcurrent whether a relatively large overcurrent occurs suddenly or a relatively small overcurrent occurs continuously for a long time.
A current sensor 14 repeatedly detects a current value (instantaneous value) of a current in a feeder 8 for feeding an inverter 7 from a battery 6. Contactors 9, 10 break or make the current flowing in the feeder 8. An ECU 13 calculates an effective value of the current on the basis of a plurality of current values detected by the current sensor 14 within each of a plurality of operation periods different in length. The ECU 13 opens the contactors 9, 10 to break the feed if any one of a plurality of effective values calculated within the plurality of operation periods, respectively, exceeds one of a plurality of predetermined break thresholds corresponding to the plurality of operation periods, respectively, which corresponds to the same operation period.
