Title:
PROTECTOR FOR INPUT AND OUTPUT END OF FIBER FOR IR LIGHT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6093404
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To decrease loss in input of IR light by providing a sleeve which seals hermetically an input and output end and shields light to said end and providing a condenser lens or window subjected to non-reflection coating to one end of said sleeve.

CONSTITUTION: A material which shields visible light and UV rays and decreases the loss by reflection is coated 6 on the surface of a lens or window 5 to be provided at one end of a sleeve 8 which closes hermetically a silver hallide or thallium halide fiber 1. A non-reflection coating layer contg. at least one layer of GaAs, CdTe, ZnS, AsSe glass or Ge is used as a light shielding layer and the coating ins accomplished by vapor deposition, etc. It is known that the reflectivity of two layers of the antireflecting films is made zero by the combination of refractive indices in the case of such films. The combination of the materials which provide the non-reflection coating is therefore selected and is provided as the layer for shielding UV light and visible light, by which the loss at the input and output of the fiber for IR rays is decreased and the deterioration in he optical characteristic of the silver halide or thallium halide fiber arising from the sensitization by UV light and visible light is prevented.
