To determine whether or not a pulse motor is in a stable position state when the motor is stopped in a certain excitation pattern.
A pulse motor control device includes a controller 17; an X-direction pulse motor 11; an X-direction rotary encoder 13; and an annunciator 26. The controller 17 rotates the X-direction pulse motor 11 in one direction in a reference torque mode to measure the intensity of motor torque in the one direction. The controller rotates the X-direction pulse motor 11 in the other direction in the same mode as the reference torque mode to measure the intensity of motor torque in the other direction. The intensity of motor torque in the one direction is compared with the intensity of motor torque in the other direction. When both the intensities of motor torque substantially agree with each other, the controller determines that the motor is in a stable position state. When the intensities of motor torque are different from each other, the controller determines that the motor is in an unstable position state.
