Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure satisfactory freezing capability in a pulse pipe freezer of the type where a cold stage is disposed on the upper end of a cold storage unit.
SOLUTION: There are provided a cold storage unit 13 including a cold stage 15 provided on the upper end thereof, and a pulse pipe 17 disposed such that a low temperature end 17L is located as a lower end and a high temperature end 17H is located as an upper end, and that the low temperature end 17L is located below the cold stage 15. The cold stage 15 and the low temperature end 171, of the pulse pipe 17 are coupled with each other through a piping with a volume which is substantially ignored compared with the volume of the pulse pipe 17. In the pulse pipe 17 disposed as above, relatively high density working gas is existent on the lower end side of the pipe while relatively low density working gas is existent so that a convection of the working gas due to gravity is not produced. Thus, no bad influence is provided on freezing operation and hence satisfactory freezing capability is ensured.
