NEW MATERIAL:Q-1047R substance having a plane chemical structure of the formula.
USE: Since it can remove active oxygens in vivo, the substance is useful as an antioxidant to prevent or reduce the formation of peroxidized lipid. For example, it can be used as a drug for a variety of diseases caused by platelet coagulation, inflammation, pulmonary disorders, arteriosclerosis, aging, senile dementia, retinopathy, ischemic angiopathy.
PREPARATION: A microorganism in Pseudonocardia, capable of producing Q-1047R substance, is cultured to accumulate the substance in the culture mixture and the substance is collected from the mixture. The cultivation is advantageously conducted aerobically at about 28°C. The pH of the culture medium is kept at about 5W10, preferably about 6W8. In another preparation, the novel compound is obtained by chemical reduction of Q-1047 substance.
