Title:
QUATERNARY AMMONIUM CARBOXYLATE INNER SALT COMPOSITION AS CONTROLLED ACTIVITY CATALYST FOR PREPARING POLYURETHANE FOAM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06239952
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remarkably improve the reactivity of an isocyanate with a reactive hydrogen-containing compound, to promote curing of a polyurethane foam and to delay the initiation of reaction by using a specific catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: When producing a polyisocyanurate by trimerizing an isocyanate and/or when preparing a polyurethane by allowing an isocyanate to react with a reactive hydrogen-containing compound, a quaternary ammonium carboxylate inner salt is used as a catalyst. The above-mentioned inner salt is preferably a zwitterionic reaction product or the like of a tertiary amine such as triethylamine or the like and a haloalkyl carboxylate such as tetra-n- butylammonium chloroacetate or the like or a lactone such as γ-butyrolactone or the like. Also, the above-mentioned isocyanate is preferably 2,4- and/or 2,6-toluene diisocyanate or the like.
