Abstract:
PURPOSE: To accurately detect only a forward object to be detected in a radar device used for an inter-vehicle distance radar.
CONSTITUTION: An antenna 4 is displaced with a speed of ±VE in the direction, shown by an arrow mark 23, perpendicular to a centerline L of a main lobe 13. Based on whether or not a level change due to a Doppler velocity VD= VEcosθs generated when an object to be detected is detected with a side lobe 14 appears in a receiving signal, either the object to be detected is detected with the main lobe 13 or with the side lobe 14 is discriminated. Accordingly, only a forward preceding vehicle can be accurately detected without influence of an unnecessary reflecting substance such as a vehicle traveling nearly in parallel on an adjacent lane.
