To provide a radial foil bearing in which favorable performance just as designed can be acquired about load capability and a dynamic characteristic of the bearing by reducing distortion generating in a top foil, and also in which an attenuation effect has been improved by friction between foils.
A radial foil bearing 3 supports a rotational axis 1. It includes: a top foil 10; a middle foil 11; a back foil 12; and a bearing housing 13 for accommodating these. On an inner peripheral surface of the bearing housing 13, engaging grooves 14 are formed. The top foil 10 is formed by rolling a metal foil having recesses and protrusions into a cylindrical form, and by each of protrusion parts 16a and 16b passing through each of the recess parts respectively and being pulled out to the bearing housing 13 side. The protrusion parts 16a and 16b which were pulled out to the bearing housing 13 side are engaged with the engaging grooves 14 respectively.
