To provide a radical polymerization catalyst which has a high chemical stability, can be easily handled, is highly active, hardly suffers from polymerization inhibition, and does not color or discolor a cured item; an adhesive for dental use which imparts a high adhesive strength to both dentinum and enamelum, does not need a light irradiation operation, and is applicable to dental repair materials of both a photopolymerization type and a chemical polymerization type; and a high-strength dental repair material free from coloration and discoloration.
This radical polymerization catalyst comprises an acidic compound (e.g. 11-methacryloxyundecane-1,1-dicarboxylic acid), a +IV-valent and/or +V-valent vanadium compound, and an arylborate compound (e.g. sodium tetraphenylborate). A composition for dental use containing the catalyst is also provided.
