To provide a radio device which can reduce startup time required before start of operation and can easily identify a fault position.
A radio device comprises a first transmitter, a second transmitter and a transmitter control device for controlling transmission power of the first and second transmitters. The transmitter control device comprises: a hardware fault detection unit which tries control of simultaneously increasing the transmission power of both of the first and second transmitters from a stop level to a standby level under hardware control of the respective transmitters at startup time of the radio device, and individually detects hardware faults of the first and second transmitters on the basis of success or failure of the trial; and a firmware fault detection unit which tries control of increasing transmission power of a transmitter whose hardware failure has not been detected from the standby level to a startup determination level by using firmware control of the transmitter control device, and detects a firmware fault on the basis of success or failure of the trial.
