Abstract:

To obtain a tablet disintegrant which containing starch as the base material, is effective at a low addition level, and has properties effective equally in water and in a physiological fluid.

The starch used here has a low solubility in cold water, a high swelling power, and an unstable birefringence which rapidly disappears when water is added. A part of birefringence of a natural fluid is eliminated or destroyed by physically treating a desirable starch.
