PURPOSE: To obtain a rapier capable of performing a weft-insertion of a foil yarn without inversion by providing a stationary gripping member for performing weft- insertion of a foil yarn, forming a vertically extended space having a width larger than a half of the width of the foil yarn at the upper half of the innermost part of the yarn gripping wall face of the stationary gripping member and chamfering the top of the space to form a space having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn.
CONSTITUTION: The objective gripping-type rapier 1 for inserting a foil yarn as a weft is obtained by providing a stationary gripping member 2 having a vertically extended space 4 having a width larger than 1/2 of the width of the foil yarn on at least the upper half of the innermost part of the yarn-gripping wall face 20 of the stationary gripping member 2, chamfering the top of the yarn-gripping side wall face 20 of the stationary gripping member to form a space 5 having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn, providing a mobile gripping member gripping a foil yarn between the stationary gripping member and the mobile member by the force of a spring and chamfering the top of a yarn-gripping side wall face 30 of the mobile gripping member 3 to form a space 6 having a width larger than the width of the foil yarn. The weft-insertion of a foil yarn can be carried out without causing the inversion of the foil yarn during insertion.
