This water cooler/heater has a hollow post 20, a base stably attached on the bottom to fix one end of the post, a housing 51, a cover to open/close the top of the housing, a water tank mounted inside the housing, and a unit for cooling or warming the water tank. The water cooler/heater has also a water tank assembly 50 detachably mounted on a holder connected to the other end of the post and a cock 56 for stopping/continuing the discharge of heated or cooled water from the water tank assembly. The water cooler/ heater has also a water suction tube 60 to provide a passage for supplying water in a raw water tub, which is stably erected around the post, to the water tank assembly, a pump assembly 30 connected to the center of the water suction tube to pump up water in the raw water tub, and a control means to control the operation of the pump assembly. One end of the water suction tube 60 is inserted into the raw water tub.
