To provide a reading instrument having simple constitution which can press a writing such as music paper onto a music stand of a piano or the like or other optional writing support in a double-spread state and can also leaf the pages with ease.

The reading instrument 1 is provided with a supporting member 2 which can be attached to and detached from the writing supports 14, 15 for supporting the writing 13 and a pressing member 7 which is attached to the supporting member 2 and can be moved in a direction remote from the writing 13 by external force stronger than force pressing the writing 13 supported by the writing supports 14, 15. A base end part of the pressing member 7 is joined to the supporting member 2 so as to be rotatable at an optional angle.
