PURPOSE: To attain consecutive shot without losing a shutter chance by sequentially rewriting an old picture data into a new picture data in a memory means when the consecutive shot is continued so as to leave an up-to-date picture data into the memory means at the end of the consecutive shot operation.

CONSTITUTION: A picture data supplied at a rate of 4 fields for one second in a 1st normal consecutive shot mode is compressed to 1/9 and the result is sequentially recorded, and when the capacity of a memory circuit 8 is occupied, old picture data P1, P2... are rewritten sequentially into new picture data P17, P18.... Thus, up-to-date 16 picture data P1-P16 (P3-P8) are always stored in the memory circuit 8.
