Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely obtain an optimum recording condition even in a magnetic field modulated recording in which only the width of a recorded mark is changed by recording the signal quantity and the recording condition of a read signal while relating them to each other and determining the recording condition corresponding to a signal quantity which is the nearest to a prescribed quantity to the optimum recording condition.
SOLUTION: In the control of recording conditions, a CPU (an optimum recording condition determining means and a control means) 46 resords a forward pattern and a backward pattern with a control instruction c4 while sequentially increasing a recording light quantity with a control instruction c3 and moving a light beam to a prescribed track and an adjacent track with a control instruction c1. Moreover, the CPU 46 detects the signal amplitude of a read signal r2 based on a digital value to be inputted by setting the light beam b1 to a reproduction light quantity with a control instruction c2. Then, the CPU 46 sequentially stores the signal amplitudes for every recording light quantity to determine a recording light quantity in which the signal amplitude becomes the maximum value to the optimum recording light quantity.
