To enable a favorable image to be recorded without being affected by a voltage drop resulting from a continuous recording.
This recording device performs recording by scanning a carriage loading a recording head which has a plurality of recording elements on a recording medium. The recording device is equipped with a first measurement circuit, a first comparison circuit, a second measurement circuit, a second comparison circuit, and a pulse forming circuit. In this case, the first measurement circuit divides a plurality of the recording elements into a plurality of blocks from recording data having been input, and counts the quantity of the recording elements which are simultaneously driven in the block. The first comparison circuit compares whether the quantity of the recording elements counted by the first measurement circuit exceeds a reference threshold value for the quantity of the recording elements or not. The second measurement circuit measures a frequency of the simultaneous driving for which the quantity of the recording elements being simultaneously driven has exceeded the reference threshold value for the quantity of the recording elements. The second comparison circuit compares whether the frequency of the simultaneous driving measured by the second measurement circuit exceeds a reference threshold value for the frequency of the driving or not. The pulse forming circuit forms a driving pulse for which the pulse width is compensated by adding pulse data becoming a reference to compensation pulse data when the frequency of the simultaneous driving has exceeded the reference threshold value for the frequency of the driving.
