The recording device 10 having the hard disk 12 comprises a read/write section 14 for reading and writing the data from and to the hard disk 12; a track history storage section 18 for storing the final update date of the data to the hard disk 12 by the read/write section 14 for each track of the hard disk 12; and an update control section 20 for allowing the read/write section 14 to update the data of a track, where the number of elapsed days from the last update date exceeds a specified threshold.
