A recording head provided with a head substrate made by providing adjacently two recording element arrays 3a and 3b in which many recording elements 4a and 4b are arranged in a row in the horizontal scanning direction on the top face of the substrate, staggering in the vertical scanning direction so that the recording elements of the other recording element array may be located between the recording elements of one recording element array, connecting the first and second electrodes 5a and 5b respectively to the recording elements 4a and 4b of the recording element arrays 3a and 3b and leading out the first and second electrodes 5a and 5b in the direction perpendicular to the recording device arrays 3a and 3b, and a driver IC connected to the led-out portions of the first and second electrodes 5a and 5b and driving selectively the recording elements 4a and 4b of both recording element arrays 3a and 3b, the first and second electrodes 5a and 5b are arranged in accordance with the order of arrayal in the horizontal scanning direction of the recording devices 4a and 4b to which the electrodes 5a and 5b are connected, and connected to the recording device 4a of the recording element array 3a passing just below the recording element array 3b at the intersection with the recording element array 3b.
