PURPOSE: To move a recording and playback head to an accurate position by arranging a click groove at prescribed intervals in a rail which guides a base where the head is fixed.
CONSTITUTION: A driving signal is applied to a pulse motor 62 to run a pulley 64, moving a moving base 57 as shown by an arrow M or in a direction N. At some part of a guide rail 60, V-shaped cuts C0 are made at distance D0 (equal to to an interval between recording tracks on a magnetic sheet 5). Then, a metallic ball 68 fallen in a hole 67 which is arranged on the moving base 57 is fitted in the corresponding V-shaped groove. When the moving base 57 is moved by a pulse motor 62, the ball 68 is pushed by a spring 69 to stay in the V-shaped groove C0 accurately, thus positioning the moving base 57 accurately.
