Title:
RECOVERY OF URANIUM IN SEA WATER BY UTILIZING TIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS54137414
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To recover uranium present in the sea water with good efficiency by bringing an uranium adsorbent powder with a magnetism into contact with the sea water by utilizing dital difference.

CONSTITUTION: The adsorbent for uranium(U) present in the sea water is composed of a combinatin of a ferromagnetic material, e.g., ferrite, magnetite, etc., and a substance of a high U-adsorbability, e.g., Al, Sn, Mn, rare earth elements, etc.. When the sea water is at high tide, the water gate 2 is closed and the water gate 1 is opened to introduce the sea water 4 into the reservoir 3, and when the level of the sea water in the reservoir 3 reaches a level with the level of the sea water outside the water gate, the water gate 1 is closed. The powdered U-adsorbent 5 is charged into the sea water in the reservoir 3 when the sea water flows into the reservoir to adsorb U present in the sea water to the adsorbent, and then when the sea water becomes low tide, the water gate 2 is opened to release the sea water 4 and the U-adsorbent 5, when the magnetic U-adsorbent 5 is adsorbed to the magnetic separator 6 provided in the front of the water gate 2 for recovery. The adsorbent 5 is deprived of U by using (NH4)2CO3, Na2CO3, etc., and then reused for the adsorption of U.
