PURPOSE: To eliminate slit short-circuit and further to improve the rectifying performance between the commutator and the brush by mounting a belt-shaped conductive plate spirally wound on the rotary shaft, and bringing the plate- shaped brush into slide contact with the slide contact surface of this spiral conductive plate.
CONSTITUTION: In the body of a small-sized electric motor, plate-shaped brushes 5a, 5b, 5c are fixedly arranged on the stator coil 3 side, and a field magnet 4 and a commutator 6, formed of a belt-shaped conductive plate spirally wound on a rotary shaft 1 to come into slide contact with the plate-shaped brushes 5a, 5b, 5c, are constituted on the opposed rotor side. When a small sized electric motor is energized, since any of the plate-shaped brushes 5a, 5b, 5c and the commutator 6 are brought into slide contact, torque is generated between the stator coil 3 and the field magnet 4, to rotate the rotor, and the commutator 6 is successively brought into slide contact with the plate-shaped brushes 5a, 5b, 5c by the rotation of the rotor, so that rectified power can be fed. In this way, a slit short-circuit is eliminated, and further rectifying performance between the commutator and the brushes 5a, 5b, 5c is improved.
