Abstract:

To develop a reducing frit which when added to molten glass, substantially avoids the generation of bubbles and allows generated bubbles to escape readily, and to obtain reduced glass containing substantially no bubble.

The reducing frit contains 2-19 mass% SnO and 1-21 mass% ZnO and has an SnO content (mass%) to ZnO content (mass%) ratio of 0.7-1.6. This frit is put in molten base glass so that 40-60% of the total amount of SnO required for reduction is added, and after the passage of 8 min after the putting, the reducing frit is put again so that the remaining SnO required for reduction is added.
