To maximize the internal volume and depth of a drawer storage chamber in a lowermost stage and improve an illuminating effect in a refrigerator by reducing the projection of an uppermost stage inner part in the refrigerator for disposing a compressor.
A first top face part 111 and a second top face part 112 provided in a lower position than the first top face part on the back face side of the refrigerator are provided to form a stepped part at the top face part of a refrigerator body, and the second top face part 112 is provided with the compressor 130. An internal lighting device 114 is provided on the upper side of the lower end face of an internal projecting part formed on the refrigerator inner side which faces the stepped part, and a lamp cover 115 is provided to cover the internal lighting device from the front face of the internal projecting part to the second top face part. One illumination can thereby diffuse illuminating light in the refrigerator to eliminate a shadow formed by the internal projecting part. Consequently, the illuminating effect in the refrigerator can be improved without impairing storage performance, and the internal lighting device is reduced to attain cost reduction.
