A door switch 7 detecting the opening and closing of a door, and a proximity sensor 8 detecting that a hand approaches inside of the storage compartment, are disposed in the storage compartment 5 provided with the lighting system 6 of the refrigerator 3, and the lighting-on and the lighting-off of the lighting system 6 are controlled on the basis of the opening and closing of the door and a position of the hand, thus only the part to be confirmed can be lit when an user desires to confirm, and the power consumption can be reduced as the unnecessary lighting is not performed.
