PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regeneration burner device and a method for operating the same which can perform combustion with an air ratio higher than 1 while reducing a generation amount of NOx.SOLUTION: A regeneration burner 10 having a heat storage body so as to recover the heat of combustion gas burned in a furnace and to heat combustion air includes: first piping 4, 5, 7, and 8 having fuel pipes 41, 51, 71, and 81 for supplying fuel, and supply and exhaust pipes 42, 52, 72, and 82 for supplying the combustion air and recovering exhaust heat; and second piping 6 and 9 for supplying the combustion air and recovering the exhaust heat. The fuel pipes 41, 51, 71, and 81 can adjust a fuel supply amount, the supply and exhaust pipes 42, 52, 72, and 82 can adjust a combustion air supply amount, and the second piping 6 and 9 can adjust the combustion air supply amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
