PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor kind determination device and a motor kind determination method for outdoor equipment of an air conditioning system, which can detect that a brushless DC motor other than a proper brushless DC motor is mounted in outdoor equipment without performing a drastic design change upon existing outdoor equipment.SOLUTION: A motor kind determination device comprises determination means 50a for determines it while referring to decision data whether or not the rotation speed of a brushless DC motor detected by rotation speed detecting means 50a is within a proper rotation speed range or one region containing the rotation speed of a proper brushless DC motor when a testing voltage is applied.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
