This ink feeding apparatus of the relief printer has an ink roll 11, an ink fountain 12, and a doctor 13. In this case, the ink roll 11 applies an ink by coming into contact with the surface of a flexographic plate which is set on a plate cylinder. The ink fountain 12 makes the lower section of the ink roll 11 immerse in an ink reservoir 4a. The doctor 13 for scraping off an excessive ink 4 which adheres to the surface of the ink roll 11. On the ink roll 11, a fine recess section (cell) for holding the ink is not engraved after applying a ceramic coating on the surface, and therefore, the ink roll is smoothly processed by a surface polishing.
