Title:
REMOVAL OF HALIDE IMPURITIES FROM ORGANIC FLUIDS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05246935
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To remove halide impurities such as carbonylation reaction products efficiently in a single process from fluids contng. the impurities.

CONSTITUTION: Fluid or vapor, preferably acetic acid and/or acetic acid anhydride contng. halides, especially iodide compd. as impurities, are brought into contact with a polymer resin, which has a functional group (e.g. phosphine, sulfide, sulfoxide, amine, arcine, sulfur or nitrogen-contng. heterocyclic ring) forming a coordinated complex with metal salt (e.g. salt of Ag, Hg, Cu or Pb, particularly silver acetate, silver nitrate or mercury acetate) capable of reacting with the impurities to form a ppt. of matal halides in the fluid or vapor, e.g. poly-4-vinylpiridine, polyphenylenesulfide or polybenzimidazole, for a time sufficient to produce the ppt., to remove the impurities from the fluids or vapors without different distillation and recovery process.
